They are all in it together...so what?

The British Parliament these days is a place where you would't want to be; the eyes of the Britons are all gazing at their main governmental institution with suspect and disdain (not to mention general anger). The scandal about MPs using public money to face their private expenses has thrown a dark shadow over them. Prime Minister Brown was told to repay £12,415 (for cleaning and gardening), Tory leader Cameron must provide more details on mortgage claims, wheter Democrat Clegg is ordered to pay back £910 (gardening again:). The way Britain is dealing with this issue shows that citizens do not accept that their money is misused in any way, and somebody is actually doing something about it. I can't help to think of Italy and the fact that misusing public money for private interests and leisures is a sad matter that comes up every now and then (and not just for dvds and gardening), without any concrete action taken against it. The first reactions I had while reading about the £910 that Clegg is due to pay back were 1-a laugh, and 2-"but that's nothing, it could have been much worse!". Sad but true, honesty and morality have different and sometimes very far meanings.
