The first true biker

Dennis Hopper, legendary American director and actor, best remembered for his "creature" film cult Easy Rider, died yesterday at his home in Venice, California, for a serious disease.

Hopper, 74, was the first of a new wave of directors on the Hollywood scene, at the time of the release of Easy Rider, in 1969. His work opened the way for directors such as Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola.

He was the first of an era. He is gone, but his masterpieces will live forever.
